I’m amused looking at a picture of myself 5 years ago. The girl I’m seeing is so different from the person I am today. It’s overwhelming realising how much I’ve grown. I’m not perfect – I still and will always manage to screw things up or make really horrible mistakes… Though all in all, I can’t help but be proud. In as much as I would like to take all the credit for this self-proclaimed maturity, I can only feel grateful for being open-minded, always willing to learn and always being unafraid to fall from grace and make a complete arse of myself… I have people to thank for the things which have helped me overtime – that’s obvious. For that, I hope they know how much I appreciate them…
I live my life for me, generally. But it’s absolutely incredible to know that I’m also making others proud… Another 5 five years from now, I’ll look at myself again and re-evaluate the kind of person I’ve become… I’ll look back on today and remember my conviction: I refuse to be a defensive entity in life, much like glass. I refuse to keep my fate dependent on the forces that hold me and crash into me from time to time. I refuse to just stand there and wait to shatter into a thousand pieces…
Today, I’m 24. Young, spirited and stupid on certain occasions, but at 24 I’m aggressively living life, milking every second of it, finding my place and allowing this world to recognise my agenda. Lets face it, I’m just a speck in this universe – another life celebrating existence during a special time every year. Just another drop of water in this chaotic ocean of fools… It’s my birthday, no big deal b/c I’m nobody important. But if you’re reading this, I hope you realise how enormous my gratitude is for this so-called mundane life. Whoever decided to give this speck a chance in this world, I love you with every bit of myself. I may not be capable of making waves in this ocean but I shit you not,…I sure as hell intend to ride every friggin’ one that comes my way… So surf’s up, here’s to 24 and still going!!!!!!!!

Personally, I have a very strict code about criticisms. So far, in my 6 years of being a professional (surprise), I have effectively thwarted self-destruction via public opinion… I think. *lol* Don’t get me wrong, I have had my lapses as in moments of self-pity and reckless self-abondonment, to the extent that I actually took other people’s crap and thought of it constructive. I once had to delete not one, but 3 accounts, just because other people had unpleasant feelings towards it – towards me. Back then, the “get out/shut out” attitude offered me relief. But that of which was only temporary, external and most unfortunatley artificial. Deep inside I knew that what I did was simply shying away – in as indirect and as subtle an opportunity as lying – from “being me”…

It isn’t astrophysics how most of the people in this world find it amusing/entertaining to challenge the way other human beings break. Hence the derivative, “You can’t please everyone.” Too many times we utter these words to ourselves, and too many times we become standard self-righteous hypocrites…

It isn’t right that we just take the bullshit, no matter who and what we are in this world – celebrities included. Sometimes, choosing to shut down or stay away becomes a practical option. Of course this essentially entails a bit of sacrifice, even though the term “a bit” would be a highly debatable topic on proper usage of an adverb. Well, atleast for this case… With respect for the obvious luxury of choice though, I really feel that it is weak to have to give up something because of how others (strangers especially) make you feel about it. Like deleting a post of an unwarranted opinion, perhaps… So what if it generates a wide array of vexed responses? They have theirs to say and you have yours. Nobody demanded the other to agree OR to even follow you in the first place (as in cases like Twitter).

Duh?

The way we choose to end/delete anything that brings any form of discomfort in our lives is a tremendously underestimated stratagem. We shouldn’t scrap any extension of ourselves just because the “haters” can’t swallow it and choke… The mistakes we make, the things we say that contradict the morals and ethics of others, the general sensitivities we have or lack – whatever it is we’re negatively tagged with (which will never run out, mind you) – these are the most asinine bases of dislike or contravention.  Especially when none of these had anything to do directly with you, and especially when your rational state of versus is fueled with nothing but divergence itself.

If at this point you’re thinking, “Give me a break! it’s just Twitter/FB/(whatever), not the end of the fucking world!” Let me just say: You are the most stupid person you yourself could possibly know. And if you don’t know why so, may God help you…

The freedom to express personal perspective and the compromise to allow others their own, is an agreement between people who separate themselves from the underbred and the ignoramus.
